This antenna AD is very misleading... you mite think by the info that it can receive 100's of channels and you'll still get all your favorite channels for free..

Read on gullible people of planet earth...

The fine print says it can receive channels within a 30 mile radius in the best of conditions (your experience may vary).

I'll bet a thousand dollars no one has a hundred TV stations within 30 miles of their home or anywhere on the planet for that matter, all that close together...

It's a play on words.. not to mention, it may support HD TV signals, but most TV stations broadcast the bare minimum on their antenna systems and only do so because it required by law to broadcast, not because they want to do it !! .

Also (in my region canada ) when cable converted over to digital signals, the cable companies gave away free convertors to all subscribers who wanted one ( you only needed one if you didn't have a digital cable box before the switch) and these box's also allowed antenna connections if you had an outside TV antenna. That's the only way you can get free TV channels anymore.

So much BS and word play in advertising... it drives me crazy...

When you see a known news site's name, you know they do it for clickbait, right? It's usually pure bullshit only to make you click on that. Not saying that all of them do it, but that's the media nowadays.

You have a point though. Ads like these really give advertising such a bad name.

Advertisements should be reviewed before being made public.

@marcthe3dman that's not how it works mate. if you find an advertisement misleading or inappropriate, click on the little cross above it to stop seeing the ad. Also @tinsoldier almost all advertising is misleading and it drives everyone crazy.

Speaking of ads, apparantly adsense (the ads that this forum uses) has been serving ads that contain the crypto currency mining scripts on youtube. See https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2018/01/now-even-youtube-serves-ads-with-cpu-draining-cryptocurrency-miners/ for more.

@marcthe3dman, @gamedeveloper0, ads do technically and according to Google's policies get reviewed before being served, but we kinda don't know if the ad is being reviewed by a human. (Source: https://support.google.com/adwords/answer/1722120)

Also, when I write all those things, it appears that I am defending ads, which to an extent I do. But I am completely against practices such as @drninkeo's example, misleading ads, popup ads, audio ads, onclick ads etc.

Although AdWords have strict policies on what ads are allowed, it seems that some of them just manage to get away with it. And Google is partially guilty of that, but on the other side, there are probably tens of thousands of ads being submitted every day to Google, which is hard to manage.

@drninkeo yeah i saw mention of those miner scripts somewhere before just recently, i was busy at the time and forgot about it till you mentioned it..

As to google, if you didn't hear about it, there's a major shakeup happening with google ad's right now.

Some prominent companies like some church's website with google ad's noticed ad's like for the KKK and or support type groups showing on their website google ad's.....

A number of big companies were seeing this happen more and more, so they complained to google, google didn't and still doesn't have a solution to this problem, soooo in response, a number of these big companies pulled all their google adverting out off google's system.

They say google may have lost up to 30% of their AD revenue due to this pull out.

A couple years back, i heard of a website that allowed advertising partners, all the ad's were previewed before agreeing to accepting the content.
The problems was, the advertising was a bait process just to get accepted, then a short time later, the company switch the ad's to porn based advertising for "things" & porn sites.. they were taken down fairly quickly.. but still, no one knows for sure how many kids may have been spammed with porn ad's, and there's no way to stop this kind of thing from happening.

Kind of like a thief who breaks into your home... no matter what security you have, they will find a way if they want in bad enough, you can only hope and deal with the aftermath.
