Again, a mistake that I made by disabling the old forum.
I announced this competition some time ago on my Discord server, it didn't get much interest. So, I decided to post it here ???? Anyways, getting to the main stuff (copied it right from my message on Discord) - You bois need new, exciting and fun every time and still want it to be, well, not weird. So, I bring @everyone **The voxel art competition that is easy and has a lotta scope for creativity 'cause I'm all outta ideas and stuff!** (Yes, that's the actual and final name of the competition, period). What are voxels? A voxel stands for VOlumetric piXEL. They're basically 3D versions of pixels. Voxels are a relatively uncommon method for defining 3D geometry. Okay, but what on Earth are we supposed to do in this competition? You're supposed to make voxel art using a voxel editor. Here are some of my favourites (Renderers not included) Magicavoxel http://www.voxelmade.com/magicavoxel/ Voxelmade Qubicle http://www.minddesk.com/ Slab6 http://advsys.net/ken/download.htm (scroll down) Rules 1. Your artwork, other than the reference images, should be 100% original (Make sure that all of you're satisfying all the conditions of your reference images, for example - Attribution 3.0 requires you to give credit to the creator while CC0 has no such conditions. Coronet Gaming is not responsible for any copyright infringement!) 2. Your artwork should be relevant to the topic. (will be announced later) 3. All of the above softwares include OpenGL/DirectX rendering abilities which will allow you to get a preview/render of whatever make but you're free to use any external renderers to get a higher quality render if you want. 4. The winner will be decided by public voting. Make sure to spend some time in the presentation of your artwork. 5. Don't forget any of the rules given above. Topic - Halloween! (I announced this in October) Last date - 9th of November (Increased to compensate for uploading this here late) Good luck, everyone!

Interesting idea. But the problem I see with it is that you're basing it on your specific interest, not taking into consideration your target audience (ex. this forum's community, or your discord server). You also incredibly constrain every entrant with just 3 programs of your choosing. Being honest here, haven't heard of those at all. I would really want to join some sort of contest, but voxels aren't really getting me. Not to discourage you or anything, but saying my opinion is probably better for you than no post at all.

Explains why only a few responded... I did a little competition a while ago and, based the agenda on some common interests (Minecraft, in this case). I actually wanted to do something different and voxel art seemed pretty easy for newbies. I'll not limit the softwares to just three now, though.

It's hard to pick a competition that suits all people here anyway. The problem is that the ClassDev community is incredibly diverse to the point that no one will be satisfied. This happened because I wanted the forum to be more like a game development discussive environment without any engine in specific, but it turned out to be the last place for 3D Rad users. Again, a mistake that I made by disabling the old forum. Should've left it there and started new. I have some plans for this forum to change, but not coming very soon.

I actually was thinking about this, and I will join this competition! I got a pretty good idea of what to make, so now I just have to create it and send it in!
