Hi.

I cant seem to find my post for this game so I've made a new one.

I've decided to rework this concept, since I lost all the files that I had previously.

It's called Planet Of The Invaders. I want to use unity for this one and think it would be a nice start .

Nothing complex about this ones gameplay or story, will just be as good as I can make , a 3rd person shooter with a story and multiple locations.

Anyways, I'm using blender to generate the assets this time, so things are alot different from the original concept i started about 3 or 4 years ago.

Anyways laters.

Hi.

I've made the default model for the bad guys in Planet Of The Invaders. I'm calling them The Dread.

They are cyborgs.

The story of The Dread is that they are known for being brutal enslavers, who roam space in order to expand their civilization, they act without thought or consideration for other beings. They are madly driven to  by an unknown goal, yet the one thing that is certain is that , if you cross paths with them , they will without rest, pursue to capture and enslave you.

wow, that model has a ton of faces, good luck getting it to run well in-game on your or even mid range pc's, but don't let me stop you from trying.

...i would expect to see that in a pre-rendered cutscene only.

It's nice to see you working with Unity! From that small video we can already see that your computer isn't dying trying to run a simple scene
good stuff keep it up!

Thanks @Time Stop Dev . I havent revealed anything about the game yet . just basics.  want to make sure I can complete the game before trying to reveal any more details. Unity is hard........but rewarding once you get something to work. just like 3d rad.

Hi. I've done a bit of stuff on the enemies. Now they can follow the player around and get shot by the gun particles.

dumb question, but why are you uploading your videos on vimeo and drive instead of youtube?

Hi Time Stop Dev. I deleted my youtube channel a while ago. I felt like I was carrying too much baggage  and wanted a fresh start. But I haven't started a new channel on youtube, trying other sites now. And also there were too many unwanted comments on youtube, which were just people trolling my videos , so I felt youtube isnt the platform to use for expression. Just click bait and non-relevant videos it seems. Nothing really saying anything.

i noticed on last vid that AI was static, once they all become active/moving rigid's i think is when your old pc will dive-bomb, so you should focus on that before progressing other stuff...

Thanks theLurker. All the characters have rigid body and colliders as well as animation controllers. Will do some tests for framerate soon, just trying to get the aiming and enemy behaviour right in my next few steps

Hi there.

Well it took a long time and alot of tutorials and effort,  but I think I've got the aiming working now. The enemy also moves towards the player. I've learned quite a bit from all the resources I've found. Had to rebuild the test scene, that if been showing, because I saved the scene while doing a retargeting of a rig to the humanoid rig in unity.....lesson learned.

I'm now moving forward with other aspects of gameplay.

Will release a little demo once Im happy with the progress. Still a big of a while away from that achievement though.

is the framerate like that due to the recording software you're using or is that just the best performance your PC can afford to run this game? because if it's the latter i think its best you take GH Game's advice and replace all the complex models you're using with simpler shapes until you are 100% certain everything works exactly as intended, bad framerate can really fuck up your perception during testings
that's not to take away from the models you're using, btw, if the map is of your own doing that's really impressive work
also, hiding some of the models or replacing them with low poly versions when far enough from the players' view would be of great help for performance in such a big scale game, not just for you, but in general

25 fps average on nvidia gt 620. 30 fps and above average on intergrated gfx Intel HD Graphics 630 hd. 1280 x 720 medium settings, ( even though I dont have my own  quality settings)

My character movement speeds must be looking slow.

I saw no frame rate issues at all in either of the 2 videos , looked smooth to me.
Only a couple things i'd like to see

#1 a FPS view from the character, not just following the character.
#2 the walking animation speed is out of sync with the characters movement speed ( it seems to be fixed to one
speed only) and it's really noticeable.

The path lighting ( those little lights, could use some glowing effect.

Wouldn't hurt to have other wall light fixtures that also glow.
Other wise, good looking environment, nice characters, lighting is ok.

Some sound effects would be nice too.

Good job so far.
